How does SiteAtSchool work? After you subscribe to SiteAtSchool, you'll receive a username and password you can use to begin creating and editing your school's website. You can then create additional user accounts so that other teachers, administrators and students can begin creating content from any computer with an Internet connection. You don't have to download any software or have any web publishing experience; SiteAtSchool makes great school websites easy!

Can students create content in SiteAtSchool?

Yes. SiteAtSchool is designed to allow students to create their own pages or collaborate on group projects. There is a special 'pupil' user type in SiteAtSchool. All students have their own usernames and passwords, and their work must be approved by a teacher before it becomes visible on your website. SiteAtSchool has built-in workflow to handle this process with ease.

How many user accounts can we have in SiteAtSchool?

Once you've subscribed to SiteAtSchool you can create as many user accounts as you like. You can assign different permissions to these users so that they can only edit the parts of your site you want them to.

What will our SiteAtSchool website look like?

You can edit your own 'editable' theme to give appropriate colours and logos to your school website, or choose from a range of website themes as a subscriber to our Premium Hosting service. We can also custom design a professional-looking theme just for your school.

How can you provide a hosting service for free? What's the catch?

SiteAtSchool is based on the 'open-source' software SyndeoCMS, licensed under 'GPL' meaning it's free to use and distribute under certain conditions. With mass data storage becoming cheaper by the year, as an official SyndeoCMS partner we can provide hosting, maintenance and support for your school free of charge or obligation. We've worked hard to enable this. There's no catch - we make our money from Premium Hosting and related services.

Is SiteAtSchool a software package or a website?

It's a combination of both - we provide the server hardware and software resources for you to manage your website from anywhere in the world, using just a web browser. You don't need to install anything or worry about complex configuration and maintenance. We're here to help you each step of the way towards a great school website.

Will we be locked into your service?

No. We use open-source software, so you are free to backup your web content and host it elsewhere whenever you wish. We don't lock you into any sort of proprietary system. Backup functions are built into the system. We don't own your information.

We already have a website. Can we move it to SiteAtSchool?

Yes. We can help you move your existing content into a SiteAtSchool site, so you can start taking advantage of all the benefits right away. This is a free service for all Premium Hosting subscribers.
